Intercourse: A Sex and Gender Spoken Word Recipe for Revolution is a dynamic evening of performance, connection, and celebration of intersex, genderqueer, sex worker, and trans communities. Intercourse is an event designed to raise awareness about our lives and realities and to build communities for ourselves and our allies through spoken word performances.
The first Intercourse was coordinated by the award-winning poet and intersex activist Thea Hillman in June 2001 as part of the National Queer Arts Festival and held at SomArts in San Francisco. Intercourse 2002 will feature the best activist-performers from the Pacific Northwest (with a couple of guests from San Francisco), and will take place at Hollywood Theatre Portland on May 25.
