In Defense of "Bottom-Up" Feminism

imagining a feminism without the "ultimate goal"

A Feminist's ultimate goal is to seek out the demise of Feminism. Agree? Disagree?

In my opinion there is no "ultimate goal." Social movements are built around specific claims of injuries and injustices, not from some abstract theorizing about utopia. That said, yes, it would be great if feminism was so successful that it made itself obsolete.

dhowl:

But doesn't there need to be an ultimate goal? Otherwise how would you know when you've accomplished what you set out to accomplish?

We'd know if there is no longer any more specific claims of injuries or injustices. I don't foresee that happening in my lifetime anyway.
